Origin of Teachers’ Day
Teachers’ Day is intended to recognise the contributions made by teachers to the cause of education. Several dates in modern Chinese history have been celebrated as Teachers’ Day. It was not until 1985, when the Ninth Session of the Standing Committee of the Sixth National People’s Congress passed the State Council’s bill on the establishment of Teachers’ Day, that the first Teachers’ Day in China was established on 10th September 1985, which is the first Teachers’ Day in China.
